How does it work?

Here is the method for sending a balikbayan box to the Philippines for your loved ones at a reasonable price.

You can order the empty boxes via the webshop, and we will send them to you via PostNL for €5.00 (up to 9 boxes), or you can pick them up from our home address. We ask €5.00 for each empty box (non-refundable). Extra tapes are also available for €1.50 each, should you need more.

Wrap each box with brown or transparent tape completely. This will protect your boxes against rain, dampness, damage, and theft complaints. Please avoid using duct tape unless you will cover it again with transparent tape. We charge €10.00 per box for retaping your boxes.

Make sure there are no prohibited or illegal products in the boxes. When sending fragile items, it is at your own risk. Make sure to pack them well and place them in the middle of the box. Avoid wine glasses and crystals, drinks with bubbles and in cans, cleaning liquids, oils, and paints.

Fill up the packing list completely with the box number, sender’s and receiver’s information, and an active contact number. You can download the packing list and the terms and conditions here.

Please make early reservations if you are planning to send in the coming shipment and confirm one week earlier than the pick-up date.

From the port of Rotterdam to the ports of Cebu or Manila, it will take between 39 and 55 days, plus delays from the date of departure and not the date of pick-up. You can check here for shipping. Upon arrival, the container has to go through customs for examination; clearance can take up to 10 days.

Consider some unexpected delays due to holidays, weather, and port congestion.

We don’t give the contact number of our local forwarders in the Philippines unless there is a problem or if you want to pick up your boxes. They will call when the boxes are ready for delivery. If you want to inquire about the whereabouts of your boxes, don’t let the receiver contact us but rather ask us directly to resolve your queries quicker.
